Long Term Development Plan
Capital Soccer Association is committed to implementing a Long Term Development Plan to optimize player development. LTD will help to develop the players within CSA and the benefits of an LTD plan are essential to developing a complete soccer player and citizen.
LTD and winning championships are often seen as polar opposites. In fact they are not opposites; they are truly connected. LTD is the focus of our programming, LTD promotes championships by focusing on the overall development of a player and provides players with the best chance for success. Focusing on simply winning and championships alone do not necessarily bring forth long term development because the focus is not on development of individual skills and tactical understanding.
Our LTD plan will not work without the support of every player/parent/coach within the club. It is important to understand the influence that your support has on the development of every player within the club. Consequently, do not underestimate your contribution to the fulfillment or destruction of this plan.
We are constantly evaluating and re-evaluating our Club LTD as well as each of our individual program LTD’s. There may be changes to one or multiple Long Term Development Plans, but please know that we are committed to our players to develop the right way.

Coaching Certificates and Licensing
Soccer is one of the few games in the world that has a professional licensing system for coaches of all ages. In the United States there are two (2) organizations that offer licensing and professional development for soccer coaches. The United States Soccer Federation (USSF) and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) offer licensing and certification programs for coaches of all ages and levels to help enhance the game of soccer from a coaching and playing standpoint.
Certificates and licensing programs range from courses with a few hours of instruction to 1 week residential courses with over 50 hours of instruction.
Coaching is not just about knowing the game, it is about understanding how and what to teach players at the appropriate age and level, how to handle certain age groups and genders, and understanding the importance of structured player development.
