CAPITAL COACHING BIOGRAPHIES/EXPERIENCE

As a club, we want to make sure we're giving all of our players, and families the best experience(s) possible. Thus, we feel having a quality staff is paramount to complete this to all of our members. Our staff includes nearly a 100% success rate with having multiple coaching licenses from varoius organizations, along with ample hours of on field training experience, and lastly a diverse playing experience.



Alex Scheuler, Director of Coaching

Alex Scheuler joined Capital Soccer Association in 2012, after three years of coaching at Waverly High School in Nebraska. In his fifth year with CSA, Alex was awarded the 2017 Nebraska State Soccer Association Boys Competitive Coach of the Year.  He currently holds his USSF C National License along with NSCAA youth diplomas.  Alex earned his bachelor’s degree from Doane College in Lincoln in Organizational Communications and holds a minor in Business Administration from Cloud County Community College in Kansas. Alex also played collegiate soccer at Cloud City Community College, where he started and was featured prominently in every match. He was team captain his Sophomore year, and during this time he also got his first taste of coaching. While his head coach was on recruiting trips during the spring of his Sophomore year, Alex ran practice sessions for both the men’s and women’s teams, while still a college player himself. In high school, Alex was a four-year starter and letter-winner at Waverly. In addition to being a four year starter, Alex was team captain for two years, first-team all-conference for three years, and all-state honorable mention for two years. At the time of graduation, Alex was in the top 10 all-time in career starts at Waverly. Growing up near Lincoln, Alex played for several clubs, including Capital. Alex is an energetic coach and coaches his teams with passion, which stems from his love for the game as a player. For the 2020-21 soccer year, Alex will Head coach the 05B Gold Academy and the 08B Gold team. In Feb of 2020, Alex was hired on to be the first Men's Soccer Coach in program history at Southeast Community College in Beatrice. 

Edward Meitzen
Edward began coaching for Capital in the fall of 2017, but has been coaching since 2013 for various clubs around Lincoln prior to joining CSA. He grew up in Lincoln and as a former player played for Capital Soccer from 1996-2000. As a player, Ed played for Doane College in Crete, after playing four years at Lincoln Southeast High School. Ed currently holds his US Soccer D License, and will be obtaining additional licensing to further his coaching knowledge and develop our players at CSA for years to come. For the 2020-21 soccer year, Ed is slated to be head coach of the 03/04B Gold Academy II team, co-coach on the 09B Gold team with Philip Yapp, and on standby for any other teams that form for the year. Ed is also currently our club president in addition to his coaching roles within the club. Outside of Capital Soccer, Ed holds several other coaching roles in the area. He currently is a staff coach at Nebraska Christian College, in Papillion, NE, is a staff coach for Dakota ODP soccer, and also is the Lincoln North Star Varsity Girls Head Coach. In April of 2020, Ed was hired on be an assistant coach at Southeast Community College in Beatrice. In this role, Ed assists the Men's team and is the Women's Goalkeeper coach. 


Ryan Davis

Ryan comes to Capital with a wealth of experience and high level knowledge in the soccer world. Beginning in the Fall of 2017, Ryan is set to coach our U14/2005 Girls group along with Tim Soenksen. Ryan began his coaching career in 2004, as a coach at Coppell High School outside of Dallas, TX. At the same time in 2004, Ryan began coaching for the Dallas Texans, one of the most successful clubs in the nation. During this period, his teams received multiple awards, championships, along with himself receiving coaching awards during this time frame. After coaching for the Dallas Texans, he then became the Dallas Sting Director of Coaching, for the Academy West Division. Sting Soccer in Texas is one of the largest girls’ soccer clubs in the Nation, and one of the most well respected Girls select soccer programs as well. As a player, Ryan played at York College in Nebraska after playing for Lawrence University, which eventually led him to soccer in the Lincoln area. He currently holds his USSF National B License, along with his NSCAA State GK Diploma.  Ryan also holds his Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education with a minor in Coaching, that was obtained upon graduation from York College in May of 2004. Ryan plans to help facilitate the growth of our girl's program in the the 2018-2019 by becoming the primary youth technical trainer for our girls select teams.  For the 2020-2021 year, Ryan will be the head coach of the 2005/2006 Girls Gold Academy I team, and the 2012 Boys/Girls Academy teams, and the 07B Gold team. 

Joel Bergt 
Joel began coaching for Capital Soccer Association in 2012. Joel works directly with all CSA select goalkeepers, along with his select team coaching duties. Previously, Joel attended one of the top goalkeeper training programs offered by youth soccer, with direct guidance from several U.S. National Team coaches. Joel currently holds his USSF D License, USSF Youth U6-8 and USSF Youth U10-12 Modules. Joel had a successful career as a player prior to coaching at CSA. He played for Lincoln East High School, where he was a four-time letter-winner and a Nebraska Super-State Soccer selection in 2002-03. He went on to play at Barton County Community College in Kansas, one of the most successful junior college soccer programs in the nation. For the 2020-21 soccer year, Joel will be the the 03/04 Gold Academy Head Coach and 06B Gold Academy I Head Coach. He will also serve as the club goalkeeper coach. 

 

Phillip Yapp
Phillip has been coaching for Capital Soccer Association for more than 10 years. During his career he has coached seemingly all ages for both boys and girls. Phil currently holds his USSF D License. Phil is currently an assistant coach at Waverly High School in Waverly, Nebraska and has assisted growing the soccer program in Waverly for the past 3 years. Growing up in Jamaica, Phil received an offer to play at Concordia University in New York, prior to beginning his coaching career. Phil brings high energy to sessions and has coached at various high schools in the Lincoln area, thereby promoting connections with many well-established programs. For the 2020-2021 soccer year, Phil will head coach the 09B Gold team, and co-coach the 2011 boys team. Along with being on standby for other various programs. 

Jeremiah Majorins

Jeremiah comes back to Capital to coach in 2019-2020, for his second stint with the club as a coach. Jeremiah has a history in Lincoln both as a player and a coach, as he played at Nebraska Wesleyan for one year before the majority of his career was played at Concordia University in Seward, Ne. His college career began after a storied career as a player at Lincoln Lutheran High School. He was a 3 time letter winner at Lincoln Lutheran, helped the team to win three District Championships, and all of those titles were followed up by three State Semifinal appearances. During this time, he was also a club player with Capital, furthering his development as a player. During his time away from Capital, Jeremiah coached in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, for FW Sport Club- where he worked with both boys and girls teams in their academy and select programs. Jeremiah currently holds his US Soccer D National License, and is the Boys Soccer Head Coach at Lincoln Lutheran High School. For the 2020-2021 soccer year, Jeremiah is slated to head coach the 2010 Boys Gold team, and the 05B Gold Academy II team along with assisting the 05B Gold Academy 1 group. 

Emma Marcus

Emma joined the Capital staff in the winter of 2019, after coming back to Nebraska to play for the Nebraska women's soccer team. Emma began her playing days in 2004, in Hastings, Nebraska before moving to Florida in 2013. While in Florida, she played for the Florida Kraze Krush as a player. During her time there, she helped her team attend Southern Regionals 3 times, with one Regional Championship that culminated in a 3rd place National finish. In her last full season, she attended ECNL Nationals, along with obtaining the following awards in High School- first team all conference (4 yrs), Team MVP (2 years). While in Florida, Emma began her coaching career in earnest while assisting with her club's first touch and developmental program, while also running private coaching sessions. Emma currently is a division 1 soccer player for the Nebraska Cornhuskers Women's team, as she is a Freshman in 2019. For the 2019-2020 soccer year, Emma will be assisting with the 05/06 Girls Gold team, along with the 2012 Boys and Girls academy teams. 

Aaron Onion
Aaron joined the Capital coaching staff during the fall of 2019. Aaron currently is an assistant coach for Nebraska Wesleyan University, and has had spells playing in England as a player, prior to playing at Nebraska Wesleyan. Aaron also represented the Nebraska Bugeaters Semi-Professional soccer team as well, further highlighting his successful playing career before moving into the coaching ranks when his playing career was cut short due to injuries. Aaron holds his Grassroots coaching licenses currently, and will be pursuing his D license certificaiton in the coming year. Aaron is a very bright and insightful young coach that we're happy to have on staff, and will do great things for us in the future. Aaron will be assisting our High school aged boys select teams, along with helping at various camps, and clinics throughout the year. 

Dakheel Sulaiman
Dakheel, or better known as "Coach Khee" joined the Capital staff in October 2019. Dakheel is a coach who is very well traveled before coming to Capital. Khee grew up abroad, born in the middle east and then moved to Germany when he was a young lad. This background helped shap his unique soccer background and knowledge on the game. Khee is a very insightful coach, is very soft spoken but wants to allow his players to grow from their own discovery and challenges within the game. While in Nebraska, Coach Khee has featured for Bugeaters FC, as an attacking player. He is also is a very active member in the Yezidi soccer community working to get those players playing more and more soccer, and develop on and off the field. For the 2020-2021 soccer year, coach Khee will be floating around as a staff coach, to help with various groups. Khee currently holds his US Soccer Grassroots Coaching licenses, and will be pursuing further education in the coming years.  


Cainan Ming
Cainan joined the Capital staff, in February 2020. Prior to coming to Capital Cainan has served in many coaching roles through various organizations. From November 2016- January 2020 Cainan worked for Villareal Nebraska Academy, with several teams, programs and ages. In addition to his club coaching experience, Cainan has worked as a staff coach at College View Academy, in Lincoln. Cainan is set to work with several teams during the spring of 2020 at Capital including but not limited to our 06B Gold Assistant Coach, 2013 B/G staff coach, micro staff coach and elementary school program coach at Elliott Elementary school. Cainan currently holds his E and F US Soccer coaching licenses, and is currently working on his D license through US Soccer and will then hold this certification in the upcoming year. Cainan was born in Bermuda as well, further highlighting his unique background in soccer as a player and as a coach. 



Andrew Ashelford
Andrew began coaching for Capital soccer early 2019. Andrew has helped with various programs in his early days at the club. Andrew began assisting the 2010/2011 Boys academy teams, and that role has now been morphed into a head coaching role for that group- in late fall 2019. He began coaching at Capital soccer because he wanted to share his passion for the game with players and help them grow, on and off the field. Prior to coaching for Capital, Andrew played for the club as a player; on the same team as current club president Edward Meitzen. Andrew is currently working through his grassroots coaching education, and will continue this throughout the coming year and beyond. Andrew is slated to continue working with the 2010/2011 boys groups going forward, through the 2020 spring season. Andrew is slated to continue working in the youth academy for the 2020-2021 soccer year. 

David Cook
David began coaching for Capital during the 2018-2019 soccer year. David grew up in Lincoln, NE and had a very successful playing career before hopping into coaching. As a player, David played for Capital soccer for over 12 years, won a State Cup Championship as a player along with being a 2x runner up. As a high school player at Lincoln East, he was a four year letter winner and starter on a team that made four straight state tournament appearances including a 24-0 record and state championship for Lincoln East in 2010. The following year, David was team captain in 2011 leading his team as a Senior. As a coach, David is a very knowledgeable coach who loves being around players and working with them on a daily basis. David has worked in several roles at the club so far, including but not limited to 05B Gold and 05B Red Assistant coach, micro coach, and most recently moved into a co-coaching role with Andrew Ashleford with the 2010/2011 boys teams for the remainder of the 2019-2020 soccer year. David holds several grassroots coaching licenses and will continue to obtain further licensing in the coming year as well. In the 2020-2021 soccer year, David is slated to assist the 05B Academy teams, along with the 2010 Boys Gold select team. 

Jeff Peterson
Jeff joined the Capital Staff six years ago, when he started working in the micro program and youth academy, under Jeremy Kester. During this period, Jeff was influential in many players developmental successes, when beginning their soccer careers. Many of these players he developed are still with us today, and having great successes with the club. Jeff is a current board member, and has been for over the past 2 years- making his impact on the club even greater each day. Jeff currently holds his US Soccer E license, and can often be seen coaching his teams, with two of his little shadows (his sons) trailing him at every move. Jeff plans to expand his coaching knowledge by furthering his coaching education experiences during the summer of 2019 as well to give back to the players he works with every day. Jeff is a former graduate of Kearney High, and while attending he participated on some of the first ever soccer teams Kearney fielded at the High School level. Jeff will be leading the charge for the 05B Red team this upcoming year, as they boys begin to prep for HS soccer and beyond. 

Harlan Milder 
Harlan has coached competitive and developmental teams at Capital Soccer Association for more than 20 years. Harlan also has coached Lincoln Pius X High School boy’s soccer since 2005, and prior to that coached at Lincoln Northeast High School. Harlan currently holds a USSF C License, USSF National Youth License, and certification in the NSCAA Advanced National Course. He previously coached U13, U14, and U15 Nebraska Olympic Development teams along with serving as a director and board member of several clubs in the state of Nebraska.


Josh Torell
Josh has been staff coach for Capital over the past several years. Josh has helped, assisted and head coached many various teams in several different programs, ages and genders. A former board member himself, Josh is a coach who coaches his teams with passion and energy and this passion and energy is supplemented with the backing of his US Soccer E license, that he holds. Josh is an everpresent member of the Capital Staff, working wherever is needed to further players' development and skills in a fun yet challenging environment. Josh is a former Lincoln Northeast graduate as well, which further connects him to soccer in Lincoln. For the 2019-2020 soccer year, Josh will be working in the youth academy, to further develop players and enhance their love for the game. 

Scott Claypool

Scott began coaching for Capital in the Fall of 2015, but has been coaching in Lincoln since 2005 prior to joining CSA.  Scott grew up in Lincoln and has been a big supporter of youth sports in our community.  Building a strong team culture and fostering an environment of learning is the core of his teams. Scott currently holds a US Soccer E License and will be obtaining additional licensing to further his passion for educating our athletes at Capital Soccer Association.  Scott is the current club President and has many responsibilities within the club, one of those being promotion of the club and the sport in Lincoln. For the 2019-2020 soccer year, Scott will be working in the youth academy, to further develop players and enhance their love for the game. 

Jeremy Kester 
Jeremy joined Capital Soccer Association in 2011 and has been highly influential in the development and growth of the club in that time. He began as youth staff coach, then became the youth director in 2013, and served as director of coaching from 2015 to 2017. During the 2017-2018 soccer year, Jeremy will serve as the Academy Youth Coordinator (ages U8-U10), furthering his positive contributions to the club. Currently, Jeremy holds his NSCAA Advanced National Diploma, along with a USSF E License. He grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska, and played for Lincoln Southeast High School and CSA. In college, Jeremy played for Ozark Christian College in Joplin, Missouri. Jeremy will be be a HS academy training coach this year, along with assist many other select teams on an as needed basis. Jeremy will primarly will be working within the youth ranks for 2019-2020, but not immune from popping into various select teams from time to time. 

Joshua McCarty
Josh joined Capital Soccer Association in February 2020. Josh comes to coach at Capital after several years coaching soccer around Lincoln. He previously coached for Villarreal Nebraska Academy, and Magellan soccer in Lincoln, NE. Josh holds several coaching diplomas from both United Soccer coaches and US Soccer. As well as domestic licensing, Josh also holds several licenses from other world federations including the English FA, Austrailian FA, and the Canadian FA. In addition to Capital soccer, Josh is the reserve coach at Lincoln North Star, on the girls side of the program. As a club coach, Josh's teams have secured numerous promotions up the league pyramid and great success at both local and regional tournaments. Josh has a great passion for the game and this comes out in his coaching every day, and will be an exciting staff member to have around for the 2020-2021 soccer year. For the upcoming soccer year, Josh is slated to coach our 07 Girls Gold, 08 Girls Gold, and 09 Girls Gold teams. In addition to this, he will work closely with the 05/06 Gold Academy HS girls team, and coach Ryan Davis. Josh also plans to pursue further licensing in the near future as well, including his D license through US soccer. 

Jose Hidalgo
Jose comes to Capital Soccer Association in May of 2020. Jose is a rising star in the coaching world in Lincoln. He holds many US Soccer Grassroots coaching diplomas, and is currently the Head Women's Soccer Coach at Lincoln Northeast High School in Lincoln. Jose, was a former student and player at Lincoln Northeast, growing up in Lincoln. Jose plans to further his coaching education in the coming years at Capital, both on and off the pitch. For the 2020-2021 soccer year, Jose will be working with many of our select groups in both an Asst coaching capacity and will head coach a select team or two as well. In the Youth, he will co-coach the 2011 Boys group in tandem with Phillip Yapp. 

Tyler Boller

Tyler joined Capital Soccer Association around the turn of 2020. Tyler is a very bright rising mind in the coaching world. He is a very sharp young mind, and at just 21 has led both training sessions and games both with great success. Tyler comes to Capital after playing at Midland Lutheran University in Fremont, and completing his High School playing career as a 4 year starter at Beatrice, with numerous State and Conference honors as a player. He plans to further his coaching education through both US Soccer and United Soccer coaches in the coming years. Tyler is slated to work with both of our 08B groups, leading our 08B second team and assisting our 08B top team in the 2020-2021 soccer year. Tyler will also be seen helping the club at various camps, and other sessions on an as needed basis- as he's great with many different age groups. 

Brooke Schrader

Brooke joined Capital as a staff coach in May of 2020. Prior to coming to Capital she has coached for AYSO in Tennessee, and Happy Feet at other various stops. Brooke had a very successful year as a player, and after her youth playing days decided to join the military. During this time she played on the US Military soccer team, forming many connections and knowledge about the game on a broader scale. Brooke has a passion for the game that will be a great asset for the club moving forward. With this passion, Brooke is looking to grow her coaching education and development in the coming years with Capital. For the 2020-2021 soccer years, Brooke is slated to Head coach our 2012/2013 girls youth team, and also assist our 07B Gold team on the select side. Looking forward to watching Brooke grow as a coach and form great relationships with her players!


Taylor Schweers 

Taylor joins Capital as a younger coach, looking to give back to the game she loved dearly growing up. Taylor played throughout her youth, for various clubs in the State (Capital soccer, Extreme, Gretna) to give her a very well rounded background as a player. She was a notorious team captain on her teams, which should make her desire to get into coaching no surprise. Her leadership skills will be apparent when she works with any player, and was evident as a younger player when she was often seen helping her father coach youth soccer sessions in years gone by. In the upcoming years, Taylor is slated to assist several of our select girls teams, helping Josh McCarty. Looking forward to watching Taylor grow as a coach and form great relationships with her players, as she'll be working primarily with our 07G Gold, 08G Gold and 09G Gold select teams.
